Mail questionnaires can be used to collect large amounts of information at a low cost per respondent. Also, no interviewer is involved to bias the answers. Telephone interviewing can provide quick feedback, and it provides great flexibility. Interviewers can explain difficult questions, skip questions, or probe on other questions. Online methods give the interviewee anonymity, the costs are greatly reduced, and reports come back faster. Online surveys also offer more flexibility than mail questionnaires, but not as much as telephone surveys. However, the response rates for online surveys are low.
