What is meant by social decentering?
What will be an ideal response?
Social decentering is a cognitive process by which we attempt to put ourselves into the
shoes of another person. The purpose of this is to help us adapt to others by
understanding their motivations for their actions and reactions. It is important, because
without it, our communication behaviors will be self-centered and aimed only at what
we wish for ourselves.
