If you were to give a speech on the high cost of college

textbooks, what attention-getter would you use? Write it out
or describe it and explain why you think it is the best choice.

What will be an ideal response?

I would start with a statistic on how much the average college student spends on
books each semester. I would then give another statistic on how textbook prices have
increased over the last several years. The reason I chose to use statistics as an attentiongetter is because they can shock the audience and they are probably not already known to
the audience as well.
