What are the three ways you can improve your intercultural communication? Briefly describe how each improves our intercultural communication

What will be an ideal response?

By having to describe each, this question tests students' knowledge of the concepts, such as motivation and stereotypes.

You can increase your motivation, increase your knowledge of self and others, and avoid stereotypes. Increasing motivation means becoming more interested and wanting to learn how to better communicate with people of different cultures. Increasing your knowledge of self and others means having knowledge of others' cultural backgrounds, histories, and values. When we show that we know more about other's culture, we validate their identities and show acceptance; at the same time, we know that when we learn more about others, we learn more about ourselves. Last, you can avoid stereotypes. When we stereotype, we assume that every member of a culture is the same. Stereotyping it often leads to prejudice and interactions that are negative or lead to conflict.
