Your friend is telling you that teen pregnancy in the United States is pretty rare and that even when it does occur, most teen parents and their children do just fine. What would you tell your friend?

What will be an ideal response?

You should tell your friend that he/she is wrong. The U.S. has a very high rate of teen pregnancy and that each year
about 850,000 U.S. teens become pregnant. In fact, about one-third of all U.S. teens will become pregnant at least
once prior to turning 20 years old. Further, the outcomes are not great for the mother or child. The mother is likely
to: shorten her education, become financially unstable, and have disturbances in identity formation. The children
are likely to before born prematurely and/or at a low birth weight; birth complications are more likely and so is
infant mortality. Further, the teens' parenting skills and prenatal care are often insufficient.
