Discuss the influence of shared and nonshared environments on siblings. Begin by differentiating between the two types of environments and then comment on the influence of each, including ways in which parents impact the environment
What will be an ideal response?
The shared environment includes those individuals living in the same household
such as siblings who are reared together. The nonshared environmental influence on
siblings does include different friends and different teachers. Research has indicated
that the nonshared environment exerts more influence on siblings than does the
shared environment. This is because children living in the same home do not
necessarily experience the same environment. Parents contribute to influencing the
nonshared environment by interacting with siblings differently, since each child is
unique.
