Trait anxiety is caused by internal feelings. Situational anxiety is caused by new,
different, or unexpected situations. These are techniques for managing anxiety: be prepared,
engage in skills training, use positive imagery, enjoy deep breathing and relaxation, apply
cognitive restructuring, become audience-centered, and practice speaking often.
