Team decision making may be preferable because different people and departments may know different relevant information, have different areas of expertise, and represent different interests. Unpopular or controversial decisions may also be easier to swallow if everyone affected by them is part of the decision making process. Possible drawbacks include the possibility that, with so many ideas flowing around a conference room table, it's often difficult to stay focused. Other times, two or more individuals may engage in power play, each having director communication styles, and will bicker so much that the rest of the team may be demoralized.
