Although online research clearly has a place in the forensic accountant's tool box, it is a double-edged sword. The Internet has a number of research benefits, including breadth and depth of subject matter, quick access, and ease of use. However, it also contains much false and/or misleading information, which is clearly inconsistent with the Daubert standard. Moreover, the sheer volume of available information can be easily overwhelming and difficult to navigate, leading the researcher off track.
