Identify the three main questions to consider when analyzing the psychology of your audience. How might answering these questions impact the way you deliver the speech?

What will be an ideal response?

The ideal answer should include:
- How willing is your audience?
* If the audience is eager to listen, it is easier to relate the information to them.
* If the audience is listening unwillingly, the you should secure their attention as early as possible, relate the topic and supporting materials directly to the audience's needs and wants, and involve the audience directly.
- How knowledgeable is your audience?
* If the audience knows little about the topic, it is important not to speak down to them, and not to confuse a lack of knowledge with a lack of intelligence.
* If the audience knows a lot about the topic, it is important to acknowledge the audience's knowledge and explain to them that you will share more information than they already know. It is also important to emphasize your own competence and expertise.
- How favorable is your audience?
* If the audience has an unfavorable attitude toward the topic or toward you, you should emphasize commonalities; build the speech from areas of agreement, through areas of slight disagreement, and up to the major differences; strive for small gains; and ask for a fair hearing.
