Explain why the selling orientation was popular during the period following World War II
What will be an ideal response?
The selling orientation views marketing as a sales function, or as a method of moving products out of warehouses so that inventories do not pile up. During World War II, the United States increased its industrial capacity to manufacture tanks, combat boots, parachutes, and countless other wartime goods. After the war, this huge industrial capacity was converted to producing consumer goods. Consumers who had not been able to purchase such consumer goods during the war years were eager to buy, and marketers had substantial inventories.
