If you are preparing a speech on taxation trends in the United States, what are four types of sources of information that could be utilized to provide supporting material? Offer clear explanations as to why each source would be beneficial

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Four sources of information include
1. Personal experience – you may be an expert in this area, or this may be a subject with which you have had personal experience. This knowledge has the added benefit of making a speaker appear credible.
2. Internet and online databases – expansive, wide-variety of resources spanning early to up-to-date information. Includes full-text news and magazine and journal articles, as well as access to newsletters and credible websites (government websites in this case).
3. Traditional library materials – rich sources of supporting materials spanning a large timeline. Using the library permits a speaker access to in-house reference materials. Librarians are also available to suggest additional print or electronic resources.
4. Interviews – direct access to a credible person who may know the answers to some of the important questions of the topic. The speaker is also able to pursue specific points or topics. An interview may result in interviewee mentioning something the interviewer did not think of.
