Briefly describe the difference between extended and included use cases

In both cases, a use case depends on another use case for its functionality. In an extend relationship, the extending use case is dependent on the extended (base) one. In an include relationship, the including (base) use case is dependent on the included use case which is an independent use case and does need the including one to function.
