Performance programs are used to make programmed decisions. A performance program is a standard sequence of behaviors that organizational members follow routinely whenever they encounter a particular type of problem or opportunity. Performance programs often evolve from nonprogrammed decisions. Essentially, if a "novel" problem or opportunity keeps recurring, it becomes a programmed decision, and the organization comes up with a standard response or performance program.
