The textbook offers a number of suggestions for using language more effectively. What are those

suggestions? Identify how we can use language more effectively and provide an example for each strategy.

What will be an ideal response?

The strategies for using language effectively include: (1 ) use accurate language (e.g., use language that is clear and easy for the listener to understand); (2 ) use vivid language (e.g., use active rather than passive verbs); (3 ) use immediate language (e.g., language that assertively connects the speaker with the listener—"We will enjoy the baseball game" rather than "People will enjoy the baseball
game"); (4 ) use appropriate language (e.g., language that is appropriate to the listener and situation);
and (5 ) use metaphorical language (e.g., a figure of speech that carries with it vivid meaning).
