What is the difference between a mutually exclusive event and an independent event?

What will be an ideal response?

Two events are mutually exclusive if they have no outcomes in common; in other words, both events cannot happen as one precludes the occurrence of the other. For events that are independent, the occurrence of one does not affect the likelihood of the occurrence of the other. The rolling of a single number cube results in six mutually exclusive outcomes, the rolling of a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6. The rolling of two number cubes involves two independent events as the outcome of one number cube does not affect, and has no bearing on, the outcome of the other number cube.
