In a short essay, discuss measures of variability as they are associated with frequencies. Include a discussion of range, variance, and standard deviation

What will be an ideal response?

The measures of variability are statistics that indicate the distribution's dispersion. The range is the difference between the smallest and largest values of a distribution. It measures the spread of the data and is simply the difference between the largest and smallest values in the sample. The difference between the mean and an observed value is called the deviation from the mean. The variance is the mean squared deviation from the mean, that is, the average of the square of the deviations from the mean for all the values. The standard deviation is the square root of the variance. Thus, the standard deviation is expressed in the same units as the data, while the variance is expressed in square units.
