The Internet provides the ability to "go direct" to build reputations with targeted publics, which means no longer depending on the mass media as intermediaries for that function. Variety of new media, including websites, e-mail newsletters and social media, provide flexibility and more freedom in ways to disseminate news about organizations, their products and services and their good works.
