Compare and contrast the differences between autistic disorder and Asperger's Syndrome

Autistic disorder and Asperger's Syndromeare part of a category of developmental
disorders known as Pervasive Developmental Disorders. Autism is the more severe of the two, with
the child often lacking communication skills, interestin others, and in some cases being mentally
retarded. Children diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome are able to communicate effectively yet they
struggle with interpersonal skills.
