In Windows 8, the Desktop is simplified to accommodate use on mobile devices where screen space is limited. However, on a laptop or desktop, you may want to have more features readily available. The familiar Notification area is displayed in the lower right corner. You will see the File Explorer and Internet Explorer icons on the left corner of the taskbar. You can add more toolbars such as the Address bar by right-clicking the taskbar, pointing to toolbars and clicking Address.
