What are the advantages and disadvantages of a bus-based datapath design?

What will be an ideal response?

The advantage of a bus-based datapath design is that data signals are available to every piece of hardware in the circuit, so you do not have to worry about sending signals to multiple devices because they all have access. The disadvantage of this design is that you are limited to how many signals you can send on each clock cycle. For example, in a single bus design, only one signal can be sent out each clock cycle, which makes the datapath function less efficiently. In addition, there are cost and space problems that arise out of having so many wires.
