For Closer Look: The Tomb of Qin Shihaungdi: Why do you suppose this ceramic army was deployed outside the tomb of Qin Shihuangdi and not in it?
What will be an ideal response?
The burial grounds for the emperor was a preparation for the afterlife of the ruler, which reflected his imperial court on earth. As such, the emperor was buried in a palace, along with his treasury, and his armies were stationed outside and nearby. This allowed the emperor to enter the afterlife established as the ruler and with his armies ready to defend him.
