Recall the benefits available to you through the externship experience
What will be an ideal response?
The actual benefits are immeasurable, but the following are the main ones students should realize are there for the taking: experience in the allied health field, a "foot in the door" for possible job openings at the site, refining the technical skills of the allied health specialty, referral for employment at a neighboring or affiliated office/facility, industry networking (including follow-up contact with site supervisor for arising opportunities), added experience to put on the résumé (including description of externship duties), and professional references and/or letters of recommendation for use in the job search. Emphasize that it is the student's own determination and action that will yield benefits for them personally and professionally.
