e. Be honest: admit and correct mistakes, refuse to participate in fraudulent activities, document and code procedures accurately, give a full day's work.
f. Be discreet: never give out patient information without a signed release, do not discuss patients with anyone not directly involved in their care, conduct necessary discussions about patients in private, keep written documentation out of view of those unauthorized to see it, do not leave patient records in public places, keep conversations with patients private, protect the physical privacy of patients.
g. Keep promises: ensure that necessary contracts have been completed, be careful of unintended promises and implications.
h. Do no harm: provide excellent customer service, stay within your scope of practice, observe all safety rules, follow facility protocols/standards, ask about anything you are unsure about, keep skills up to date, keep certifications current, stay informed about health care laws.
