Define the concepts of diffusion and innovations within and between groups

?The process of the idea or resource moving from one group of members to another group is called diffusion. In other words, diffusion is the process by which an innovation moves through channels of a social system. For example, in health promotion, an innovation is a new health behavior, a social norm, or an intervention. Innovations are defined as ideas, practices, or objects that are perceived as new by an individual or other unit of adoption. Innovations can be designed interventions, such as a health promotion program or a technology product, or they can represent new ideas emerging or transferring from other groups. Adoptions of innovations can enhance population health or represent a source of potential harm for adopting members. Change occurs through diffusion. A new idea, product, or behavior is adopted by one member and then spreads to another member and so forth. Diffusion occurs through both planned and spontaneous processes.
