In infancy, the child may appear to be normal, even unusually well behaved. Severe
deficiencies in communication ability, social skills, and imaginative play emerge in
early childhood. As the child gets older, the lack of social understanding becomes
the worst problem and will probably be a lifelong experience. The symptoms also
