Answer: Deferred imitation is imitation of an action witnessed earlier at a later point in time. For example, a parent might wave goodbye to a visitor who is leaving and the child simply watches. At a later point, someone exists the door and the child waves her hand in a similar manner to the way the parent waved hers.
