Should parents in the future be obligated to use gene therapy—if it were available—to fix any genetic abnormalities in their child?

Depending on how paternalistic we choose to be, we might force them to fix the abnormalities, refuse to pay medical expenses, or merely leave it up to the parents. One could get to either the first or second choice based on utilitarian arguments, and to the third by a duty argument based on autonomy or using virtue ethics to bolster the role of the parents.
