Groupthink happens when group members refrain from dissent because they fear
sanction or do not want to risk discomfort or conflict. Symptoms include the illusion of
vulnerability, group rationalization, illusion of morality, shared stereotypes, self-censorship of
dissenting opinions, direct pressure, shared illusion of unanimity, and mind guarding.
