Describe the nationality and location of users who own one of these. Are there users in that country that don’t own one? What portion of the users do they represent? Can you think of an icon that would be recognizable to a wider audience?
This is a mailbox used in rural areas in the United States, and they also sometimes appear in some subdivisions. Only 20% of U.S. citizens currently live in counties classified as rural, so only a minority of the US population actually is part of a family that owns this type of mailbox. People living in apartment buildings don’t own or use mailboxes of this kind. A better icon might be an envelope.
