Define a DHCP lease and describe how it is used.

What will be an ideal response?

At the end of the four-step DHCP four-way handshake (also called DORA, for Discover, Offer, Request, and Acknowledgement), the DHCP client gets a DHCP lease. A DHCP lease is set for a fixed amount of time, often one to eight days. Near the end of the lease time, the DHCP client sends another DHCP Request message.
