The Direct Marketing Association established a Do Not Mail List and created the Commitment to Consumer Choice, both of which are aimed at giving consumers control over mail order solicitations they receive. Finally, the CAN-SPAM Act, a federal law, addresses unsolicited, misleading, and inappropriate emails from Internet marketers.
