The Interactionist view of language development bridges the gap between the Nativist and the

Behaviorist viewpoints.

Please describe one theme from the nativist theory and one from the
behaviorist theory that the interactionist theorists also believe.
What will be an ideal response?

Infants are born with a biological readiness toacquire language. This is the Nativist theory.
Cognitive development is influenced by environmental factors such as reinforcement and imitation
which are elements of the behaviorist theory. The interactionist view blends parts of both and
therefore state that both nature and nurture play a role in developing language skills.
