Since nonverbal behaviors vary from culture to culture, they may have very different
meanings to different groups of people, some of which may be offensive or
meaningless.  Therefore, the text recommends minimizing gestures that have specific
meaning in your culture and/or language, using gestures that have no express meaning.
Avoid crossing your arms in front of your body, pointing, or lifting individual fingers
while keeping others down.  Never turn your back on an audience.  Avoid looking
down too much, as eye contact is valued in the United States, indicating
trustworthiness.  Look at the audience as much as possible.
