Mesopotamian culture and religion

What will be an ideal response?

Mesopotamian culture and religion is influenced by the geography of the region, particularly the availability of water for irrigation and the fertile soil. The material culture of Mesopotamia makes use of these natural resources as evidenced by the invention of beer and the invention of cuneiform writing on clay tablets. The Mesopotamians were, with the exception of the Hebrews, polytheistic and worshipped a pantheon of gods that were associated with natural phenomena: air, sun, water, as well as human traits and activities such as love and war. The ruler-priest served as an intermediary between gods and humans and was depicted in a larger scale on the numerous steles recovered from ancient Mesopotamian civilizations. The proportionally larger size shows his greater importance as well as his divine status.
