During the partitioning process it will most likely be necessary to disrupt executing
jobs. It is possible that if the partition reassignment is incorrect, throughput
could suffer substantially. It is possible that the complement of devices is
not sufficient to support more partitions. Hopefully, throughput will improve.
Installations that use fixed-partition multiprogramming often run large jobs
that require consolidation of several partitions in the off hours.
