A speaker should do the following things: 1) use a type font size of 24 to 30 points; 2) use words or phrases; 3) use the templates provided by the software; 4) use consistent typeface styles and sizes; 5) be brief; 6) use colors for contrast; 7) add visuals sparingly; 8) include charts and tables when appropriate; 9) do a spell-check; 10) anticipate audience questions and prepare possible answers; 11) anticipate technical problems; 12) rehearse with the slides or even the equipment that will display them. A speaker should not do the following things: 1) use italics; 2) read the slides aloud; 3) add a lot of colors and sound effects; 4) use entire sentences; 5) use too many photos or graphics; 6) include Internet images; 7) create more than ten slides.
