What are the important questions to ask to test the validity of arguments by cause?
What will be an ideal response?
When testing arguments by cause, one should question if a causal relationship truly
exists. Just because one event precedes another does not mean the second was caused by the
first. For example, just because the rooster crows before sunrise does not mean the rooster
causes the sun to rise. A second question is whether the presumed cause could product the
effect. Finally, a listener should examine whether the effect could result from other causes.
