What has the United States gained from the rise of China that makes China and the United States partners and allies? In what ways is the growth of China a challenge, or even a threat, to the United States?

What will be an ideal response?

An ideal response will:
1, Note that the rise of China has provided a growing market for American goods, a source of cheap consumer goods for Americans to buy, and an opportunity for the United States to expand public programs without raising taxes because of China's willingness to invest in American debt at low rates of return.
2, Outline some of the ways China is or may become a challenge, such as having more influence in the world's economic and diplomatic affairs, and improvement of its military capabilities.
3, Mention other concerns about China such as human rights violations, the migration of U.S. jobs to China, its refusal to participate in efforts against North Korean and Iranian nuclear weapons programs, and the possibility that China itself could become a nuclear threat.
