If you are expecting a call and must take it, set your phone on vibration and lay it out of view. Do not disturb other people with your ringtones or personal conversations. If you must speak on the phone, move to a private area or lower your voice to avoid annoying the people around you. Do not speak on the phone in restrooms or in elevators, or when standing in line to order or pay in restaurants and stores. Do not make other people listen to your personal conversations. Use ear buds or headphones on airplanes, in waiting rooms, and in other places where your music or the noise made by your devices might not be welcome by people seated around you. Do not text or talk on the phone while crossing the street or walking through crowded areas. Do not use digital devices in dark places such as movie theatres or auditoriums where screen light will distract other people. Do not check or send messages or use digital devices when you are supposed to be sleeping. The light from electronic screens interrupts sleep patterns. Keep in mind that some people do not text or use social media or digital communication at all. Now and then it is a good idea to just pick up the phone and call someone.
