What does research say about developmental data during later years?
What will be an ideal response?
The findings are much less clear than data on changes in earlier years. One cross-sectional study of young, mid-life, and older women found that generativity increased in middle age. Contrary to what Erikson's theory would predict, however, the oldest group of participants, whose average age was 66, cited generative concerns as being important to them just as frequently as the middle-aged group did (Zucker et al., 2002).
