Describe similarities and differences between same-sex and heterosexual couples. How are children from same-sex couples affected?
What will be an ideal response?
Answers will vary. In terms of similarities, same-sex couples tend to function much
like heterosexual couples do: Some couplings are harmonious and smooth, others
are problematic. One of the major differences is that same-sex couples have only
recently begun to have the right to declare their status "officially," and in most states
they do not have many of the civil and political rights afforded to hetereosexual
couples. Children of same-sex couples fare as well or better than children of
heterosexual couples or single parents.
