was using PowerPoint for the first time?

First, not all of the information said needs to be written on PowerPoint slides. A speaker should
have no more than about six lines of text per slide, and it is best if those are words and phrases rather than
complete sentences. Second, you should clear the screen when you want listeners to focus just on you.
The slides can take attention away from you as the speaker. Third, you should be familiar enough with
your slides that you can skip ahead or go back if needed. This will allow you to speak in a more
extemporaneous style and adapt to your audience as you give your presentation. Fourth, you should limit
or even eliminate the moving text. This often becomes a distraction to the audience and makes the
information harder to read.
