Impairment of learning, comprehension, and judgment: the person has trouble understanding abstract ideas or is unable to plan actions. 4. Impairment of emotional control: the person overreacts with extreme emotions such as laughter, tears, or rage. 5. Apathy or emotional blunting: This lack of emotionality usually occurs when deterioration is advanced. 6. Impairment of initiating behavior: The person needs to be repeatedly reminded what to do next. 7. Impaired control over ethical conduct: The person shows lowered standards of appearance, language, sexuality, hygiene, and so on. 8. Impaired communication: inability to comprehend or express oral or written language. 9. Impaired visuospatial ability: poor handwriting or ability to assemble things.
