Students should identify two of the following four ways in which cultural learning occurs: (1) cultural diffusion, or the spreading of culture beyond a specific group to be embraced by a wider audience; (2) assimilation, or the submerging of cultural differences into a broader, dominant culture; and (3) cultural imperialism, or when one culture is dominated by another culture to the point that the victimized culture is forced to change its cultural practices. Examples may vary by students based on readings and what is discussed in class.
