Answer: Answers will vary, but should include three of the following – tell a story; use an example to which the audience can relate; use a personal example; remind the listeners why the message should be of interest to them; eliminate some abstract facts and statistics; use appropriate humor, though if the audience does not respond to this, use more stories or personal illustrations; make direct references to the audience; encourage audience participation by asking questions or requesting examples; ask for a direct response, such as a show of hands, to see if listeners agree or disagree; speed up the pace of the delivery; and pause for dramatic effect.
