Compare and contrast Freud's oral and anal stages with Erikson's stages of trust vs. mistrust and autonomy vs. shame and doubt
What will be an ideal response?
The two are similar in that they are both stages that occur in the first two years of
life. Both also describe a "crisis" that must be resolved to not become fixated and
have problems later in life. Some differences are in the ages at which children start
these stages (Freud's anal stage at 24 months, autonomy vs. shame and doubt
about 18 months old) and what crises are to be solved during the stage.
