Compare and contrast how additive genes work and how dominant-recessive genes work. Give an example of each, and describe how the characteristic is inherited from an individual's parents
What will be an ideal response
All of the additive genes for a particular trait contribute fairly equally. Dominantrecessive
genes relate in such a way that the phenotype reveals the dominant gene
more than the recessive gene. Examples will vary but should demonstrate students'
knowledge that with additive genes, the resulting phenotype will be a combination of
all alleles, and with dominant-recessive genes, the resulting phenotype will reflect
the dominant gene (at least mostly).
