As a health care professional, how should you respond when someone asks you for advice about an alternative or complementary therapy?
As a health care professional you have a responsibility to encourage people to have faith in their doctors and in their prescribed therapies. You should also keep in mind the health care approach followed in the agency that employs you and respond appropriately. As a general rule, it is appropriate to help someone obtain more information about a complementary therapy without influencing the person's decision in either direction. An open mind mixed with healthy skepticism is a good combination.
