What is the influence of geography on food choices?

What will be an ideal response?

There are multiples ways that the area one lives in affects food choices. Geography affects foods that are available based on location, climate, and seasonality. People tend to eat more foods that are indigenous to their location. For example, fish may be a large part of the diet of those living near the ocean, where those living in land-locked areas may have a more significant intake of meat and poultry. People living in Asia have a diet that has traditionally been higher in rice, due to the abundance of rice historically grown on that continent. It is important to note, however, that this is changing in certain places like the United States where food is being brought in from all over the world and available throughout all seasons. The availability of foods will also differ based on different geographic environments. Some urban and rural areas may not have adequate stores selling fresh foods, leaving the patrons with the ability to only purchase processed or canned foods.
